Neomi Elizabeth Thunberg, 87 died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Pioneer Nursing Home in Prairie Farm, Wisconsin. She was born June 27, 1925 in the Town of Barron, the daughter of Ervin and Dorthea (Kuhni) Johnson. She grew up in the Barron Township and attended the Pleasant Hill Grade School. She stayed home to take care of her younger brother after her mother passed away. Neomi had a waitressing job at the Pool Hall Restaurant. She later worked at the Jennie-O Hatchery for many years retiring in 1987.
Neomi’s hobbies included ceramics, knitting and gardening. She loved baseball and golf. She enjoyed spending time with her family and relatives. Neomi was a member of the Cameron Pieper Marsh Ladies Auxillary and the Cameron Senior Center.
She is survived by her husband Gordon Thunberg of Barron, WI; step-son Bruce (Judy) Thunberg of Rice Lake, WI; step-daughters Shirley Pung of Grand Forks, ND and Cindy Murrey of East Grand Forks, MN; 10 step-grandchildren; nephew Terry (Deb) Rasmussen; niece Holly Johnson and sister Annabelle (Marvin) Rasmussen all of Barron, WI; other nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Fredrick (Fritz) Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Rausch & Steel Funeral Home in Barron with Pastor Donald Berry officiating.
